What This Policy Covers

Chickadee is a free, static cooking timer app. This policy explains what data is collected, how it is used, and your rights as a user.

Data Stored on Your Device

Chickadee stores the following data in your browser's localStorage. This data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to any server.

  • Timer state (cookingTimer) — the active recipe slug, start time, and serving size, so the timer survives a page refresh.
  • Serving size preference — your last selected cover count for each recipe.
  • Theme preference (theme) — whether you prefer the light or dark kitchen theme.
  • Cookie consent (cookieConsent) — whether you have accepted or declined analytics cookies.

You can clear all locally stored data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain, or by using your browser's developer tools.

Google Analytics

If you accept analytics cookies, Chickadee loads Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-X7KFRJYWBL) to understand how the app is used — for example, which recipes are most popular and how often the timer is used. This data is aggregated and anonymous.

Google Analytics may set cookies and collect data such as your approximate location, device type, browser, and pages visited. See Google's Privacy Policy for details.

You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by:

  • Clicking Decline on the cookie banner when you first visit.
  • Installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Clearing cookieConsent from localStorage and refreshing the page to see the banner again.

Advertising

Chickadee does not currently display advertising. If advertising is added in the future, this policy will be updated to cover the use of advertising cookies, including Google AdSense, before any ad scripts are loaded.

No Account or Personal Data Required

Chickadee requires no registration, login, or submission of personal information. We do not collect names, email addresses, or any other personally identifying data.

Third-Party Services

Chickadee loads fonts from Google Fonts (JetBrains Mono). Google Fonts may log the request, including your IP address. See Google's privacy policy for details.

Your Rights (EEA / UK / California)

Because Chickadee does not collect personal data beyond what is described above, your primary rights are:

  • Right to erasure: Clear your browser's localStorage for this site at any time.
  • Right to opt out of analytics: Decline cookies via the banner or the opt-out methods above.

This policy may be updated when new features are added. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated to reflect changes.
